How to Cancel Proton VPN Through the Proton Website

To cancel a website subscription:

  1. Sign in to your Proton VPN account.
  2. Open Subscription in the account sidebar.
  3. Scroll to Cancel subscription and select Continue.
  4. Select Cancel subscription.
  5. Review the cancellation terms and confirm.
  6. Choose a cancellation reason and select Submit.

The cancellation is complete only after you submit the cancellation reason. Proton VPN should then show your subscription expiration date.

How to Cancel Proton VPN on an iPhone or iPad

If Apple billed you, cancel Proton VPN through your Apple Account:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Proton VPN.
  5. Select Cancel Subscription.
  6. Confirm the cancellation.

Apple will show the date when your Proton VPN Plus access ends.

How to Cancel Proton VPN on Android

If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel the subscription in the Play Store:

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Select Payments & subscriptions.
  4. Tap Subscriptions.
  5. Select Proton VPN.
  6. Follow the instructions to cancel.

Google Play handles the cancellation when you purchased the subscription through the Android app.

Will Canceling Proton VPN Give You a Refund?

Canceling Proton VPN does not automatically request a refund. Proton says customers who subscribed within the last 30 days may qualify for its 30-day money-back guarantee.

  • Website subscription: Contact Proton customer support.
  • Google Play subscription: Request the refund through Proton support or Google Play, depending on the purchase.
  • Apple subscription: Cancel through Apple, then submit the refund request through Apple's problem-reporting system.

Does Canceling Proton VPN Delete Your Account?

No. Canceling Proton VPN normally downgrades the account to Proton Free after the billing period ends. It does not delete your Proton account or remove access to the free VPN service.

To delete your Proton account and its data, use Delete account in Proton account settings. This also affects other Proton services linked to the account, including Proton Mail, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar.

What to Do If You Cannot Find the Cancellation Option

Check the service that billed you:

  • Website purchase: Open Proton VPN account settings and check Subscription.
  • Apple purchase: Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
  • Google Play purchase: Open Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

If the subscription still does not appear, contact Proton support. Include the Proton account email address and the payment details linked to the charge.
